The journey — map with pins
The scenic route to Patagonia — 65,000+ miles of detours

August 17, 2016 — July 2018. NYC to Patagonia and back. Two summers, two winters, and one very long road trip. The route crosses the equator twice.

Enough to circle the Earth two and a half times. Fourteen countries, over the Andes, down the spine of the Americas, and back up the Atlantic by ship.

About 7,200 liters. At roughly 11 miles per gallon, the 3.5-ton truck camper drank its share of the trip. Every tank bought a few hundred miles.

Peter, Lucy, Julie, and Lilly. Two adults, two kids, one rusty camper — and a grandmother who (mercifully) stayed home.
